A wrap is worn across the shoulders rather than at the neck, and its proportions follow from that. Ours are woven to a uniform 180 by 60 centimetres in grade A cashmere and organic wool, handled through every stage in a 250-year-old heritage mill.
Sixty centimetres is the measurement that decides everything. Narrower than that and a wrap slides from the shoulder and has to be adjusted all evening. At this width the cloth carries its own weight across the back, sits square without fastening, and can be crossed at the front without gathering into bulk. Every piece here is made to the same dimensions, so how it falls is a question of fibre rather than of cut.
That width is also what makes it the piece that travels. Wide enough to layer over the shoulders of a coat through the coldest months, fine enough to drape over an evening dress without weight at the neck, and generous enough to work as a blanket across a long journey. Folded over the arm it takes up almost nothing.
The plain wraps in understated shades do the quiet work and take a scarf or a collar beneath them comfortably. The check designs — Black Watch, Thomson, DC Scott — carry more on their own and are better worn against a plain ground than layered into pattern.
