A cashmere scarf is the quietest thing in a man's wardrobe and the one worn most. Ours are handcrafted from grade A long-haired cashmere, graded to 34–42 millimetres and 13–15.5 microns before it is spun, then woven through thirty-five steps in a 250-year-old heritage mill.
Those two measurements decide everything that follows. Staple length governs how well the cloth holds itself together, and so whether a scarf is still soft in its fifth winter or thinning by its second. Fibre diameter governs what the skin registers at the neck. Every piece in this collection is held to both.
What remains is ply. One ply is spun fine and lets air move through the cloth, for spring and the warmer end of autumn. Two ply is where most of the collection sits: soft enough to keep on indoors, resilient enough to be knotted and packed daily. Three ply is dense enough to turn wind, for the weeks when a scarf is doing the work of a second layer rather than finishing one.
A plain colour will sit under a suit and be noticed by nobody, which is usually the point. A tartan or one of our signature designs asks for a plain coat around it. Worn open over a cashmere jumper or cardigan it reads easily; knotted at the throat under a collar it does the same job for business dress.
