A cape is decided by its drape. Ours are cut to fall from the shoulder in a single uninterrupted line, in pure cashmere, organic wool and faux fur, and finished by hand in a 250-year-old heritage mill.
With no shoulder seam doing the work of a sleeve, weight and width are what determine how a cape hangs. Ours are cut to a 130-centimetre drop and made in one size, so the cloth settles rather than fits — worn over a coat through the coldest months, or across the shoulders alone in the evening.
Several pieces are woven to be reversible, carrying a Scottish motif on one face and a plain ground on the other. The full stag, the single thistle, the large check. Turned over, the same cape becomes an altogether quieter thing, which is the reason for making it that way.
Pure cashmere gives the softest handle. Organic wool gives weight that keeps its line in wind. Faux fur is for the piece that is meant to be the whole outfit rather than a layer within it. Plain colours and check patterns run throughout, in classic styles and in our signature designs.
