Women’s Winter Ponchos & Capes

A cape is decided by its drape. Ours are cut to fall from the shoulder in a single uninterrupted line, in pure cashmere, organic wool and faux fur, and finished by hand in a 250-year-old heritage mill.

With no shoulder seam doing the work of a sleeve, weight and width are what determ. . .

How to wear women’s winter ponchos and capes

Women's ponchos and capes ask for very little underneath them. Over a slim knit and a straight trouser the line stays clean and the drop does the work; over a coat, the cape becomes the outer layer and the coat beneath it should be the plainer of the two. Because the cut is one size, the way it sits is adjusted by where the weight falls rather than by fastening — pulled square across both shoulders for a formal line, or shifted so more of the cloth gathers on one side for something easier.

The reversible pieces are worth owning for the second face. Motif outward for the day, plain ground for the evening, with no change of silhouette. Plain colours are the quieter choice and take a scarf comfortably at the neck; check and tartan are better left to speak alone. Store folded rather than hung so the shoulders keep their shape, and air the cloth between wears — women's ponchos and capes hold their line for years when they are not left compressed on a hook.
